Airtel Rwanda has set new Airtel Money transfer fees
On Friday, June 26, 2020, Airtel Rwanda has set new Airtel Money rates, which have been reduced by 70% compared to pre-Coronavirus outbreaks.
After three months of free money transfer by phone to
protect against Covid -19, the Central Bank of Rwanda (BNR) recently
announced that the cost of transferring money through technology will be
refunded.
Airtel Rwanda has announced that for other services such
as electricity, water, call charges, fuel bills, parking, TV subscription,
Gate, deposit money will be available for free.
The amount of money transferred to Rwanda through
technology between January and April 2020, reached Rwf40 billion; that is an
increase of 450% from the 7.2 billion Frw transferred in the first week of January
2020.
According to a report by insight2impact in collaboration with RURA, in the first week of the Guma Murugo program, the number of money transfers in technology reached 1.2 million, up from 600,000 in the previous week.
Guma murugo while in the last week of April 2020, 1.8 million people transferred
money electronically to Rwanda, while from March 9 to March 15, 10.7 billion
Frw was transferred but in the week ended March 22 technology had reached 24
billion Frw.
