Airtel Rwanda has set up free SMS to keep COVID-19 safe!
With the outbreak of the
Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak in Rwanda, Airtel Rwanda has stepped up its
efforts to crack down on the virus by setting up a free SMS service for its
customer .
Airtel
Rwanda announced on Monday, March 16, 2020, that the company, which has a large
number of subscribers in Rwanda, announced that the transfer of money through
Airtel Money is free, in order to continue to prevent the spread of the
COVID-19 epidemic, where According to a press release, Airtel Rwanda announced
that from Friday, March 20, 2020, all customers will be able to send friends,
relatives and their families in general, in order to keep in touch with Rwanda
and The world is generally at risk of Coronavirus (Covid-19).
Commenting
on the new program, Airtel Rwanda CEO Amit Chawla said:
‘’We know and
appreciate that our customers are now at home, cutting back on travel and thus
avoiding contact with their family and friends. Providing this free SMS method
will help them stay close to their families and be able to communicate with
their neighbors, as part of the authorities' request’’.

Iradukunda, Secretary general in Ministry
of Technology and Innovation, said that
the free SMS sent by Airtel is a decision of the Government of Rwanda to
continue to communicate even though they are waiting because the government is
asking people to stay in their homes, and it is also possible to say that in
these times we are in need of each other so that these extraordinary times we
are in will come out peacefully.
Airtel Rwanda
continues to work closely with the Rwandan government to continue to prevent
the spread of the coronavirus epidemic, where they do everything possible to
ensure maximum human contact, as well as hand-to-hand transfers.
