HUAWEI 2020 SEEDS FOR THE FUTURE ONLINE STUDY KICKS OFF
Huawei, a leading global ICT solutions provider, has today kicked off the one week seeds for the future training through online and live broadcast sessions from 30th November to 6th December 2020.
Huawei is to train 64 top ICT students recommended from the various universities of Rwanda in areas of Internet of Things, Virtual Reality, Big Data, Cloud, Artificial intelligence and 5G related courses.
Speaking at virtual Launch Huawei Country Manager, Yang Shengwan noted that this year’s training shall be carried out through online because of the covid-19 pandemic that has led to closure of borders of various countries.
“Before, we have been selecting the top 8 ICT students from the various universities of Rwanda for a two weeks technological training in China but this year, the program shall be carried out online and we shall make full use of its advantages of e- learning and communication without borders, showing the future communication trends through we link, a sense of exclusivity of a teaching form and the convenience of not being restricted by the place,” Mr Yang said.
Speaking on behalf of ICT Minister at virtual launch, Angelos Munezero the Director General of Innovation & Emerging Technologies at Ministry thanked Huawei for this great initiative and called on students to utilize this chance for the betterment of the country’s ICT sector.
“I thank Huawei for continued development and providing skill to our students, through initiatives such as these that involve skilling of young people, our country can only go forward, I call on students to put in all needed efforts to learn,” Mr Munezero noted.
“And more importantly will continue working together with Huawei to build the skills in our current and future workforce,” he added.
Rwanda’s Second Counselor at the Mission in Beijing Mr. Virgile Rwanyagatare called on the student to also learn the Chinese language and culture on top technological skills.
“You should not only learn and get skills from the Huawei but also run the Chinese culture and language though it is hard but it as it will help facilitate business with a quarter of the world’s population which very crucial for the development for our country,” He said.
The seeds for the future program is Huawei’s Corporate Social Responsibility flagship program that began in 2008. This program takes 10 students every year to China for hands- on technological training in the latest industry trends. Over 30,000 students worldwide have taken part since inception. But because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the company globally introduced this online study to promote continuity of the program without any boundaries and limitations.
